PCL - Slide 3
This plasma cell leukemia shows plasma cells with so-called "flaming cells. The plasma cells have an irregular cytoplasm with a prominent red border. This color probably arises from the precipitation of globulins. This patient also had a very high concentration of monoclonal protein (M-protein), which can be seen as a light haze over the entire specimen.
