Macrocytes
Synonyms: Megalocytes
Macrocytes are abnormally large erythrocytes that usually result from nutrient deficiency (folic acid or vitamin B12) or from reticulocytosis. Macrocytes are seen in the automated cell count by a high MCV and/or RDW.
