Hypochromasia
Hypochromic erythrocytes are paler than normal and have much greater central pallor. This color abnormality arises from reduced hemoglobin synthesis as seen in, for example, iron deficiency or hemoglobinopathies. Hypochromasia is usually indicated by a reduced MCHC.
