Ghostcells
Ghost cells are translucent, microcytic erythrocytes formed during intravascular hemolysis due to membrane degradation; for example, due to oxidative stress or degradation by the alpha-toxin from Clostridium Perfringens bacteria. The light color results from hemoglobin leaking out of the cell. Under the microscope, they are easily overlooked.
