The eosinophil population shows increased density, appropriate to an increase in the number of eosinophilic granulocytes. The remaining leukocyte populations are normally distributed. Such eosinophilia can be seen in allergic diseases (such as asthma, rhinitis and drug reactions), inflammatory bowel diseases and eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), among others. Malignancies such as hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES), eosinophilic leukemia, cutaneous T-cell lymphoma or B-ALL may also underlie eosinophilia.
